Passion, tradition and perfection are what define RS. In this interview, Dr. Jens Reppenhagen, managing director of RS, gives his personal perspective on these corporate values and the people behind them.
» Yes – our tradition. Of course, there are many reasons for economic success, but the company tradition has always been a major factor for RS. As a third-generation family company, we place great emphasis on continuity in our dealings. Through this, we get lasting trust, deep-rooted values and guiding principles. I believe this corporate culture has greatly contributed to the success of RS since 1904.
» The customers, products and employees have always been crucial. At RS, everyone pulls together with enthusiasm and passion in pursuit of the best customer solutions. This is supported by a professional but also familial management style and absolutely open and honest communication. We state clearly how things stand and act responsibly.

» We don’t just want to be a supplier, but rather a long-term partner. So we place a great deal of value on offering our customers good service. With this in mind, our employees don’t keep their detailed fluid handling knowledge to themselves but actively share it during process planning with the customer. This commitment has served to really strengthen ties with our target groups over the years. Many trusting partnerships have developed on this basis.
» As a family company, we grow with our employees and benefit every day from the ideas that emerge from our team’s broad cultural background. That is why I believe it is so important to feel motivated and to enjoy your work. In order to encourage this, we offer flexible work concepts with home office options and remain loyal to our long-standing employees.
» We are not just competing, we are leading. With our know-how, we are the benchmark others strive for. For example, we invented the hose fittings and have played a leading role in the definition of many standards. To ensure things stay this way, we are focused on making our products, processes and customer relationships even better every day. Our many international patents and global marketing and service concepts are examples of this. We are also very actively involved in international standardisation committees.
» Standards create technical standards which ideally apply worldwide. With our products, we are directly at the interface of all kinds of connecting systems. Standard conformity means that everything works perfectly together in the fluid process. This ensures reliability and safety in fluid handling. However, the economic aspect is also important. Standards foster fair competition, with customers free to choose the supplier they want. As a quality brand, RS also benefits from this, as does the customer. Additionally, new processes, standards and healthy competition encourage us to keep developing and innovating further.
» Absolutely. Perfect fluid connections are simply a real passion for us at RS. That is why we never compromise on quality or cost-effectiveness and are constantly improving ourselves. This not only applies to our products, by the way, but also our means of communication. In spite of all of this tradition, we still keep up with the times, such as by posting application videos online, for example.
With our know-how, we are the benchmark others strive for.
» As a brand, RS will continue to be synonymous with uncompromising quality. This goes hand-in-hand with our enthusiasm for perfect, process-oriented products. We will also be maintaining our constructive partnerships with customers. The significance of our markets will change. There is great growth potential outside of Europe and we want to tap into this. So RS will become even more international. With our unique know-how and strong team, we are ideally positioned for this.
Thank you very much for the interview, Dr. Reppenhagen.
